Morgan Kirk (she/her/hers)

Associate Director, Toro CARE

Morgan Kirk serves as the Associate Director of Toro CARE. Morgan is a dedicated professional with seven years of experience in student affairs. Morgan’s career has been centered around supporting and advocating for students facing basic needs challenges, and she is deeply passionate about student development, equitable access, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Morgan holds a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), where she honed her skills and knowledge to better serve students. For the past four years, Morgan has had the privilege of working at CSUDH where she can continue to champion the holistic growth and well-being of our diverse student population.

Christopher Battle (he/him)

CARE Coordinator, Toro CARE

Chris Battle serves as a Care Coordinator within the Toro Care Department. With over 8 years of experience working in Higher Education, Chris not only brings a wealth of knowledge and skills centering student development but also his passion and dedication for working with diverse populations in a variety of settings. He has his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration & Counseling from the University of Georgia and a B.S. in Rehabilitation Services & Counseling from East Carolina University.

His journey to this role has been shaped by his experiences as a Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator at Cal State LA, where he had the privilege of collaborating with their University Care Team to address a myriad of concerns, including mental health, academic challenges, sexual misconduct, and financial hardships. In this capacity, He has honed his skills in assessing students' needs, developing personalized care plans, and connecting them with the resources necessary to help them reach their goals. 

Danny Deth (he/him/his)

CARE Coordinator, Toro CARE

Danny Deth is a Care Coordinator for the Toro Care Department. He has his MSW with a concentration on Children, Youth, and Families which he obtained here at Cal State University Dominguez in 2022. Before his MSW program, he also did his undergraduate studies here at CSUDH and received his BA in Psychology with honors.

Danny’s focus was on child welfare where he first started off in Grief Support counseling for school-age youth. He ran Grief groups for elementary/middle school age students who were experiencing grief and loss. He also provided Psychoeducation to parents and staff on grief to empower them to better support their children and students. His latest experience prior to becoming a care coordinator was at the Department of Children and Family services. During his time at DCFS, he supported families involved in the system to access resources and assist with their court-ordered case plans. He served all throughout Los Angeles County during his time at DCFS.

Kimberly Hall Snowden

CARE Coordinator, Toro CARE

Kimberly's focus has been on community mental health for the last 10 years. Kimberly has been with Occupational Therapy Training Program (OTTP), a non-profit contracted with Department of Mental Health, Department of Children Services and Probation specializing in FSP intensive services, case management, crisis interventions and cognitive behavioral interventions. Kimberly has recently been an important part of Department Health Services Housing for Health where she helped to launch “Hope on Hyde Park” a permanent housing program supported by LA Mayor Karen Bass, Crenshaw Community Councilmember Marquecce Harris Dawson. Kimberly has worked with stakeholders to help place many chronically unhoused individuals. Kimberly has facilitated DUI/ other Groups for Behavioral Health Services located in Gardena, CA and has volunteered for community-based transitional aged youth program, Teen Turnaround, for many years. Kimberly has served the communities of Los Angeles, Norwalk and Downey for several years in many roles as a volunteer, Non-Profit CEO & Founder and Clergy.

Giselle Corral (she/her/hers/ella)

Food Access Coordinator, Toro CARE

Giselle serves as the Food Access Coordinator for the Toro CARE Department at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). Giselle is no stranger to the CSUDH campus. She earned her Bachelor's in Science in 2020 from this very institution and is currently in pursuit of a Master's degree in Public Administration, showing her commitment to lifelong learning. Throughout her academic journey, Giselle has been privileged to work closely with diverse student populations. These experiences have empowered her to connect with students through engaging food demonstrations and valuable nutrition education, all aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle, both on and off campus. Giselle's dedication extends beyond the classroom. She actively collaborates with various departments within the CSUDH community to foster a culture of wellness and well-being for all. Her goal is to make healthy living not just a personal choice but a shared experience that enriches the entire DH community.

Cristina Lopez Macias

CalFresh Coordinator, Toro CARE

Cristina serves as the CalFresh Coordinator within the Toro Care Department, with over eight years of experience working in Higher Education. Cristina brings a wealth of knowledge and skills in enrollment management from Admissions, Financial Aid, Scholarships, and student budgeting. She has her M.A. in Guidance & Counseling, concentrating in Higher Education from Loyola Marymount University, and a B.A. in Anthropology and Legal Studies.

Before joining CSUDH, she worked as a Financial Aid Counselor at Loyola Marymount University, providing students with financial aid literacy and resources to make college more accessible. As a first-generation Latinx college graduate, Cristina is passionate about being a student advocate who addresses issues of inequity in education and provides a holistic, social justice-oriented approach when working with students and families. She is excited to continue this work at CSUDH while supporting all students in assessing basic needs.

Candice Varnado Bangura

Director, Toro CARE

Candice is fueled by connecting people to the resources they need with compassion and discretion. She is committed to helping maximize the services provided by the Toro CARE team to best support the CSUDH student population. Candice brings with her more than 8 years of experience in the fields of advocacy, organizing for social change, student affairs, energy consulting, and development. She received both her B.A. and Master of Education degrees at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.

Prior to joining CSUDH Toro CARE, Candice worked at Cal State LA in various capacities, including support of students providing crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization services. In addition, she facilitated the sexual violence prevention training and education activities for the student leaders.
